Below is the video produced by Our Country Pac that is making liberals go ballistic. Daily Kos, AlterNet, Salon.com, The Village Voice, and every other left of center blog and chat group out there is denouncing this video. Here is what all the fuss is about.
In my lifetime, I have never been more concerned about the direction our country is heading than I am right now. The massive expansion of the Federal Government, the nationalization of sectors of the economy, and the ballooning unprecedented federal deficit greatly concern me. I feel my freedom is threatened when the Obama Department of Homeland Security creates a terrorist profile that I fit. When we have one party rule and a Congress that passes 1200 page bills that no one has read and they are pushed through without anyone having a change to read, I am deeply concerned. Despite my concerns, the Cult of Obama, and a lap dog press that is no more than props for the administration I, nevertheless, think that this video is unnecessarily provocative. One may express concern about the direction our country is headed and legitimately criticize President Obama without using comparisons to Hitler. I think the video is in poor taste.
Before liberals completely blow their top however, they should recall that many on the left routinely compared George W. Bush to Hitler. For a little balance to the above video here is one produced by MoveOn.com.

My husband is a trucker and so he listens to political radio all day long on Sirius. He'll call me and tell all sorts of goodies that the government is trying to get away with. I am astounded that any administration can push through the bills that Obama is doing. It seems ludicrous. You'd think the democrats would feel used and abused and vote against it just on principal.

ReplyDeleteI agree with your concerns about the federal government. My most recent post on my own blog delves into the issue of the government deficit. It just boggles my mind how the media spent so much time pointing out the cost of the Iraq War and its affect on the deficit, yet it has almost completely avoided shifting this same discussion to the Obama Administration. His stimulus package has cost us almost as much as the combined total of the Afghan and Iraqi wars. Bush was in office for eight years to rack up such debt. Obama has been in office for not even a year and has already nearly surpassed the Bush Administration's war debt.

That's one of the worst ads I've ever seen. It's deception from start to finish. Obama didn't start the bailouts -- Bush did. Remember Goldman Sachs? Now they posted a record profit. Obama didn't start the label of people domestic terrorists -- Bush did. Bush and his criminal administration were a bunch of fascists and they nearly brought this country down. Dick Cheney and his assassination squad nearly destroyed the Constitution. I'd worry more about the remnants of the Republican party getting into power again, if they had any chance of doing so, which thankfully looks remote.

We love it that you love Sarah Palin. Please please please nominate her for President in 2012. Nothing will ensure another four years of progress than that. Oh sure, at some point, another Republican will get elected (2020?). No majority lasts forever (Mr. Rove). But that person will not be able to undo the progress that the Obama administration will have set in stone. Social Security and Civil Rights are now a fait accompli, and though idiots still try to attack them at the fringes, they aren't going anywhere. The same will happen with all the Obama programs. Your greatest fears are being realized: a new world order is at hand!
And by the way, your numbers will keep dwindling. You are 19% of the population right now, but demographics are not on your side. Soon, white people will be a minority. Our increasingly numerous Black and Hispanic brethren and our growing urban centers will ensure your voices will continue to be marginalized until some day in the not-so-distant future they will be extinguished, just as backward, reactionary, pseudo-christian redneck zealotry always is.

You say the video is in poor taste and unnecessarily provocative?
ReplyDeleteI don't get it. A one second mention of Hitler is provocative? In fact the mention of Hitler was a quote from a U.S. Congressman.
Carefully watching the video and doing some research shows that it is 100% accurate. Each one of the statements was made, just not put together until now.
I just don't get it. Why such an uproar? Could it be that the left knows deep down that the video is true?
