Meet Local Candidates and Enjoy Family Fun
Nashville, TN --- The Davidson County Republican Party (GOP Nashville) will hold a
Fundraising Picnic - rain or shine - from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday,
July 7th, 2012, at Nashville’s Centennial Park pavilion.
GOP Nashville Chairman,
Kathleen Starnes-Maxwell, and members of the GOP Nashville leadership team will
be on hand to introduce themselves and welcome picnic goers. Candidates will
also take part in the festivities.
The event promises plenty
of BBQ with all the fixin’s as well as a straw poll and the opportunity to meet
and hear from candidates. There will be booths and activities for the whole
family, including the opportunity to “Dunk a Democrat.”
“It’s one of our biggest
events of the year,” Starnes-Maxwell says. “The picnic is a great opportunity
to meet candidates in person and chat with like-minded friends and neighbors.
It’s all in good fun.”
Emcee’s for the picnic
will be radio personality Carl Boyd Jr. and Representative Jim Gotto.
A highlight of the
annual event is the presentation of the Winfield Dunn Leadership Award, given
each year to an outstanding Republican for exceptional leadership and community
service to the citizens of the State of Tennessee. Former Gov. Winfield Dunn,
for whom the award is named, was governor from 1971-76, the first Republican to
hold that office since Reconstruction. Former winners of the award are Rod Williams, Sen.
Jack Johnson, and Tootie Haskins.
Cost for the picnic is
$25/person or $50/family. Students may attend for $10 with school ID. Tickets
will also be available at the door on the day of event based on availability.
Tickets are available online at http://gopnashville.eventbrite.com/
