I watched the convention on CSPAN which just shows the convention and does not have commentary or interviews. On CSPAN the convention is what you are watching, not pundits watching the convention and telling you what to think about it. On CSPAN you can watch all of it, even the parts that some show producer thinks is unimportant or does not fit the narrative they wish to tell.
Watching on CSPAN I did not have the advantage of immediately hearing from commentators and pundits tell me how weird Clint Eastwood’s speech was. It was only after it was over and I channel surfed the other news networks, that I learned of that view.
This morning, reading news stories I see that Eastwood's speech is described as “baffling,” “rambling,” “embarrassing,” “a disaster” and “bizarre.”
I thought it was refreshing, humorous, and to the point. I liked the talk to the empty chair. There were plenty of serious speeches by serious politicians; having a different kind of speech by an American icon like Clint Eastwood was different and I thought it was great. I liked Clint Eastwood’s speech and was not embarrassed.

ReplyDeleteHow did you like his hair?
ReplyDeleteYou know, until you mentioned it I had not even noticed his hair, but I went back and looked and that is really a bad hair-do. He needs a new barber.
