More than 10,000 illegal aliens have been processed for removal from Davidson County under the authority of this program, according to Hall.
However, Hall says the twelve people working in the 287(g) program could be used more effectively elsewhere. I don't like this. I think we should keep the 287(g). There is a proposed Charter Amendment pending that would clarify that the Sheriff can provide some law enforcement services which would remove any legal challenge to the 287(g) program based on that concern. When was this decision to discontinue 257(g) made? What is really behind this?
