Governor Mike Huckabee joins Lamar Alexander to Honor Republican Party Chairs from Middle Tennessee

“Lamar has consistently helped build a stronger Tennessee Republican Party and I’m excited to join him in honoring the state’s grassroots leaders.” – Governor Mike Huckabee

NASHVILLE, TN –Lamar Alexander’s re-election campaign today announced that Governor Mike Huckabee will join Senator Alexander to salute Middle-Tennessee Republican Party Chairmen on July 20 in Rutherford County.

The event will feature Governor Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas, presidential candidate, and host of the Fox Network’s Huckabee Show. Other musical and political special guests will join to pay tribute to Republican grassroots activists from across Middle Tennessee.

“Governor Huckabee has been a champion of our party’s principles of limited government and fiscal conservatism. I’m delighted that he is coming to Tennessee to join me in honoring the men and women who work daily to advance our party’s mission” says Alexander.

The event is free, but advance registration is encouraged to guarantee entry into the event.  More information and event registration can be found here: www.lamaralexander.com/salute or by calling the campaign at 615-678-1940.

The Alexander campaign is chaired by Congressman Jimmy Duncan with co-chairmen Governor Bill Haslam, U.S. Senator Bob Corker, Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, Speaker Beth Harwell as well as Congressmen Blackburn, Roe, Black, Fincher and Fleischmann.

This is pure garbage. I remember Lamar!'s tenure as Governor, and the TN GOP was nearly dead. Calcified and desultory leadership and candidates for office. When Howard Baker stepped down as Senator, Lamar! refused to step up to stop Al Gore. When he left office in 1987, the party was at its lowest point in the modern era, dead by all intents and purposes. Even left the country to boot. He doesn't show his face again except to demand we vote for his abortive run for President in 1996 (when he promised ! promised ! us he would NEVER run for office again) and 6 years later (breaking his word) to use his money and establishment connections to willfully stomp on the preference of the grassroots, Congressman Ed Bryant (and promising he'd be a Conservative ! Yessirree).

Now flash forward to 2013 and Lamar! is breaking his word again (set down in his book -- "Two terms and OUT !") to keep his 6th most liberal Republican 74-year old behind in the Senate. Sorry, but Lamar! has only been for Lamar! in his 40 years either running or serving in office. His interest in the grassroots is only what they can do for him, as he certainly has no use for Conservatism. That TN Conservatives would return such a self-serving politician is appalling. I wouldn't vote for Lamar! for dogcatcher.

And, as for that fool from Arkansas, Huckabee, the king of illegal slave labor from below the border for Tyson's, here was another arrogant pseudo-Christian buffoon who laid to waste the Arkansas Republican party that he set it back 40 years by the time he finally left office in 2007 (reducing it to zero statewide Republicans, a small minority in the legislature, and 1 federal Congressman). He actively went out of his way to stop and sabotage any and all Republicans who didn't pledge their personal fealty to him. His Democrat successor did more to rebuild the Arkansas Republicans by accident than Huckster did on purpose.

These two are absolutely toxic to the grassroots and are premier examples of why the Republican establishment must be defeated for the future of the party.

  4. Disgruntled Conservative? Lamar Alexander? This the same guy who voted for the indefinite detention to the NDAA. Is For NSA's Prism program, and thinks Edward Snowden is a traitor for telling you about it.
Just another Rhino in Conservative clothing right there in the ranks of John McCain and Lindsey Graham. Politicians like this Guy are the problem. Now he is going to pretend that he is upset about the very messes he has created because there is another election cycle coming. Just glad I no longer live in TN so I don't have to have this Ass Hat come knocking on my door again like he did a few years back.

Just happens they always seem to be Republican. That should tell you something. In my opinion you owe these two great men an apology. Self-serving, arrogant, pseudo-Christian, Buffoon, Huckster, Garbage, Toxic???? Sir you need to be kinder to your dogcatcher. If I talked about people like that. I'd go to a doctor and get some help with angrier management

  7. You are correct. Lamar, Corker, and Haslam all worship at the feet of Obama and call it "bipartisanship." They have betrayed Tennessee and their country so many times this year alone. Their votes on gun laws, immigration, sending planes to Egypt, internet sales tax, just to name a few. We need an amendment to the Tennessee Constitution so we can recall Corker. Alexander is up for election next year. Check their voting records and don't just watch their paid mouth pieces on TV. It is not a Democrat, or Republican party issue anymore. America is in danger. We need to purge all the career politicians.
