The editorial appeared in the paper the day of President Obama's visit to Chattanooga and was reposted on Facebook pages thousands of times and linked in blogs, including this blog, and referenced in news stories around the nation. The paper claims he was not fired for the content of the article but for changing the headline of the story to what they said was "vulgar" and an embarrassment.
Drew Johnson is a former Nashvillian and was the first director of the Tennessee Center for Public Policy Research, now known as The Beacon Center. He had been at the Chattanooga Times Free Press for about a year.
I hope Drew Johnson lands on his feet and goes on to bigger and better things.
