Don't Criminalize Compassion. Tennessee Veterinary Board Threatens Jail Time for Giving Unlicensed Horse Massages.

A few weeks ago, we unveiled our new video showcasing the stories of Martha Stowe and Laurie Wheeler, two women who practice equine massage therapy in Tennessee and who have been threatened with fines and jail time if they continue to work. Essentially, the state vet board has defined massage as veterinary medicine even though veterinarians are not trained in massage therapy. The National Review picked up the story and ran a full piece on the Beacon Center's advocacy for the women. We are prepared to sue the state if the Vet board doesn't change its mind.
