By Rod Williams, Dec. 7, 2023 - In case you missed it, former disgraced Nashville mayor Megan Barry has announced she is running for Congree, challenging Mark Green for the 7th Congressional District seat. Above is her announcement.
Yor may recall that Barry, who served as Nashville's mayor from 2015 until 2018, resigned in disgrace after it was revealed, she spent nearly $175,000 of taxpayer money carrying on a two-year affair with her bodyguard, and used taxpayer resources and vehicles to facilitate the affair at the Nashville City Cemetery. With Nashville so deep blue, I doubt most Nashvillians will be bothered by her conviction for corruption. It seems neither party is much bothered by corruption these days.
Fortunately, most of Mark Green's constituents are not Nashvillians. More than half of the district's vote is cast in either Montgomery County or Williamson County.
